Star Trek: Final Frontier - Episode 2 - 'The Empty Eye'

Stardate 2528.48

An orange sky above an impressive alien city. Twisting spires and serpentine skyways outline the unknown cityscape. An open air stadium filled to capacity sits in the center of the city, in a place of prominence. A cacophany of cheers and chants echo from below, filling the stadium.

Below a chanting throng of alien spectators, all watching the center arena with rapt attention, Lieutenant Kaylen Donal is chained to the wall ringing the stadium field.

After a beat, Captain Alexander Chase is thrown violently into frame, crashing into the wall beside Donal, as a mighty roar rises up from the crowd. The raucous crowd noise violently shakes the ground and the stadium. Chase shakes his head to clear it before rising from the ground.

Despite appearances to the contrary, Donal seems unworried by the current situation. She states sarcastically, "I think you’re tiring him out."

After a brief moment, a more serious look crosses her face. The B.U.G. link attached to her head is currently inert, colorless. "They’re blocking everything from the ship, sir. As your tactical officer, I’d suggest you go for his legs."

A pyramidal camera drone floats in for a close-up of the Enterprise's captain, as Chase scrambles to his feet. He tries to bat it away, but the small drone zips out of range just before he can strike it.

We expand our perspective of the rest of the arena. Screens float everywhere, displaying the views of the many cameras flying around the stadium. The stands are filled with A CRAZY MIX OF ALIENS, all fixated on the big fight at the center of the arena.

Chase stands up straight to get his footing on the arena floor.

He thinks to himself, "Well, might as well treat this like trying to intercept an Ancient American Football"

Chase waits till the Pyramid is back near his head and makes a leap to grab it with both hands.

Chase waits a brief moment, weighing his options and feeling the compacted earth that makes up the arena floor underneath his feet. A second pyramidal camera drone begins to hover around him. In a flash, Chase reaches out to grab the drone, but ends up flailing at it, coming up empty handed. A wave of alien laughter erupts throughout the stadium at his efforts.

Chase collects himself quickly and strides out to the center of the arena, with another ROAR from the crowd encouraging him on.

In the center of the arena, awaiting Chase, is his opponent: a massive scaled combatant in an open-faced metal helm and crude armor. Twelve feet tall and angry, it’s bleeding from a wound from one of three eyes.

Chase approaches the massive creature, as a drone zooms for a close-up, his face filling the screens around the arena. The crowd's collective voice rises as he re-enters the fray.

The monsterous opponent ROARS.

[OOC: GM rolled twice for Chase to catch the pyramid shaped camera drone. One roll was a success; the other a complete failure (rolled a natural '1'). The complete failure is demonstrated above. Note that later on in the action, the next time Chase attempts to catch a camera drone he will be successful.

Combat rounds now begin with Chase going first in the Initiative Order.]

"Well, friendships have begun in stranger ways than this." Chase said aloud.

Hoping someone would realize that his next action was not taken in anger, but out of self-preservation. Chase squares up to his competitor, and tries to land a right hook on the bloody eye of the creature.
