Chase thinks for a moment to himself. "Ok, I'm guessing what ever is on this ship could easily wipe us out without breaking a sweat, so our phasers are not gonna get us out of this one".

"Lower your weapons" Chase ordered in almost a whisper, hoping his instinct was correct. He then spoke at almost a yell to their new hosts:

"My Name is Captain Alexander Chase of the USS Enterprise. I wish to speak with your leader."

Session Recap - 1/14/18:

"You destroyed our vessel, Captain," Abin, the Ordrin leader, states as he emerges from behind an overturned shuttlecraft. He approaches cautiously. From various points around the away team, additional Ordrin emerge wielding crude weapons.

"I am Abin, leader of the Ordrin people. This ship is our home. Come, we must speak."

Abin leads Chase and Donal through the ship, with four Red Shirts tailing them. The Starfleet personnel look at this
relic of the past with wonder.

"Life support was active on only two decks, which we have remedied. The vessel still lacks propulsion. We seek your help in this matter."

We enter Ten Forward. The Ordrin have made this their makeshift bridge. Alien star charts cover tables and Ordrin bustle about. Abin leads the group to a computer terminal.

"We discovered an extensive database of information on the Omega fields in the ship’s computer. Detailed analysis, advanced mapping algorithms. Most of it was encrypted, but not all."

Abin touches the flickering LCARS display and a map of the surrounding distortion is displayed, crisscrossed by lines and symbols. Chase peers at it, confused.

"It is escape. A corridor of sufficient stability to take a ship of this size through at low warp.It would not be easy, but it is certainly possible."

Chase orders Lt. Donal to have one of her techs download the ship’s database and to see what state engineering’s in.

"The Verlicon consider us their property. We are their primary food source at the moment, and they seek our return."

Chase reacts as Abin tells his story...

"Two years after our first venture outside our solar system, their ships came without warning."

"They took us, forcibly, to their vessels. Slaughtered all who resisted."

"There was no diplomacy, no communication. Our entire population abducted."

"We had no identity on the Verlicon ship, no hope. We became livestock along with so many others. Food for a stronger race."

_____________________________________

In the distance, the surface of the distortion flickers to life. Glowing, pulsing. Something’s coming out of the Omega Field. As it reaches the edge it resolves into an Ordrin vessel, spinning wildly out of control. The ship is leaking plasma, crumpled and ruined, hurtling toward the Venture. One of the Ordrin vessel’s engines BLOWS OFF the main body, EXPLODING behind it, skewing the ship’s trajectory. It’s still hurtling toward Venture. The savaged remains of the transport rush toward them, sailing under the saucer section, impacting somewhere below with a CRUNCH, sending a light tremble through the ship.

Chase offers Abin and his people assistance with escaping the Omega Field. Chase dispatches one of the two dragonfly shuttles to report back to the Enterprise their findings and plan to escape the Omega Field.

Hours later once repairs are complete, Chase and Donal join Abin on the battle bridge of the U.S.S. Venture. The warp nacelles glow to life and the reaction from the Omega field is immediate. The edge glows red hot, energy snaking across the Venture’s oval shaped warp field. The ship trembles, pulls to one side, corrects, and warps into the field with a CRACK and an impressive display.

All hands bracing themselves. TREMORS shake the bridge. Lights flicker and dim, a HORRIBLE RENDING SOUND is heard as
the ship’s hull fights against outside forces. Chase, leaning forward, is determined as the U.S.S. Venture begins the process of escaping the Omega Field.

Enterprise drops out of warp, settling to impulse power before taking a stationary position outside of Omega Field 131.

On the bridge, Comm. Holden assumes the conn and takes a seat in the captain's chair.

"These are the correct coordinates, sir. According to the captain’s message, this is where they’ll come out," Jax states calmly.

"Out. Of an Omega Field. In a Galaxy Class starship," Holden retorts doubtfully. After a beat, he continues, "Are you reading anything? Any sign of this corridor?"

"Negative, sir. Field one thirty-one reads normal."

The first officer shakes his head, sits down. "I hope he knows what he’s doing."

________________________________________________________

Inside of Omega Filed 131 and on the bridge of the U.S.S. Venture, the bridge is currently PITCH BLACK. LCARS panels blink here and there, casting an eerie glow. The ship is SHAKING violently and a cacophony of noise can be heard: ALERT SIRENS, VENTING GAS, RENDING METAL.

Over this cacaophony, Lt. Perry calls out frantically, "We’ve lost manifolds one, four, six, and seven! Two and five are in the red! Trying to compensate!"

AN EXPLOSION from behind tactical suddenly illuminates the bridge, sending up a backlit vision of Chase in the captain’s chair. Perry mans the helm, Abin at ops, Donal at tactical. The shaking lessens, but is still prevalent.

Chase catches his breath for a moment.

"Donal, can you scan to see how much longer this will last?"

He asked knowing that whatever she answered, it would be longer than he wanted.

"External sensors are down!" Donal calls out from the tactical station behind Chase. After a beat, she continues, "Auxiliary manifolds are coming back online."

Red light bathes the scene as a light POWER ON NOISE is heard. The emergency lighting shows us the chaotic scene on the bridge. Another BEEP and the main viewscreen comes to life, bathing Chase in an odd, pulsing blue light.

The sight is hypnotic. A pulsing, swirling energy corridor in which the Venture is traveling at low warp through the omega field.

The Venture, trembling, sails through the corridor. Ripples of light cast glimpses into the vastness of subspace beyond, and vibrant tendrils of energy snake around, some lashing out near our ship as its warp field passes by. Violent, dangerous, and beautiful.

A pulse of energy RIPS OUT of the surroundings, striking the Venture’s warp field with a flash and buffeting the ship.

"Well, that was...something." Chase sighed.

"Now can anybody tell me where the hell we are now?" Chase asked, not even knowing if Perry or Donal were still conscious.

A massive jolt to the ship and subsequent alert klaxons interrupt before anyone can respond to the captain's inquiry.

"Structural integrity failure on deck fourteen, port side," Donal calls out for the tactical station.

Perry and Abin react to the alarms, looking grave. Abin’s insectoid fingers dart across the display at the Ops station.

"Almost...Almost...Almost there," Abin adds.

"We’re losing cohesion!" Perry exclaims as he attempts to get everything he can out of the ship's century old controls.

Capt. Chase focuses on the viewscreen, his makeshift crew in the foreground. The trajectory of the Venture is no longer straight down the pipe. The corridor begins to dip slowly to port, with ribbons of energy darting across the field vision in front of the Stafleet ship.

Session Recap - 3/25/18:

A serene and soothing star-scape. Silent. But only for a beat before we see a SUDDEN BURST of energy. The edge of Omega Field 131 is suddenly visible, energy ROILING. Amidst the currents, what looks like a tear in the skin of space and time can be seen: the corridor’s end. From within, a glow is closing fast, bolts of energy casting off it, dancing across the inner boundary of the field and then...

A CRACK, and the WARP DRIVE EFFECT is heard as the Venture seems to be literally spit forth from the mouth of the distortion, which ripples for a moment before disappearing behind it and returning to normal space.

The Venture is listing, spinning toward our viewpoint, and looking worse than before. Glowing fissures are seen across the already perforated hull. The few working exterior and interior lights blink and flicker. Thrusters FIRE, steadying the mighty ship as her pilot attempts to level her out.

Chase calls out for a status report and receives disheartening news: The Enterprise is nowhere to be seen! Sensors, communications, shields, weapons, and warp drive all off line, as the ship and her makeshift crew recoup from the trying journey through the subspace corridor. While assessing the situation, the Venture makes contact.

Our crippled ship before us, we rapidly PULL OUT, with the Venture shrinking as we reveal three Verlicon ships. Two are identical to the ship engaged earlier and destroyed  by the Enterprise, but the third is bigger and meaner, tribal markings on its side. A large structure at the fore of the larger ship gives the impression of a beast's maw about to sink its teeth into the wounded Starfleet vessel.

"Red alert!" Calls out Captain Chase.

As Perry works at the helm, red alert klaxons sound across the battle bridge. "Shields are non-responsive, sir."

The view-screen comes on with a beep to reveal KURU XUN. The Verlicon leader is massive and intimidating, all teeth and fury. His bridge is sparse. INSECTOID SHAPES can be seen in the background.

On the view-screen, before Chase can address him, we hear the growl of the Verilcon leader. "I am Ascendant Kuru Xun. We read tracking devices for eighty-five escaped prisoners aboard your vessel. Return them at once."

Chase attempts to open a dialogue with the Verilcon leader; to stall for time and to plan for the possible escalation of hostilities. Chase attempts to place the Ordrin under the protection of the Federation.

Mocking, Kuru Xun retorts, "Federation. We are familiar with this name, Captain Chase. You are far from the border your people cower behind; there will be no retribution."

We see the VERLICON and their INSECTOIDS at stations. Kuru Xun stands in the center of it all, speaking to Chase’s image on the screen. His grotesque features contort into a vague smile. He cuts the transmission with a wave of his hand, Chase’s image replaced by that of the Venture hanging wounded in space. Addressing his men, Kuru Xun commands, "Send a harvester pod. Leave our property alive. Kill the rest."

A launch port on the front of the lead ship glows with energy before a massive gelatinous projectile THOOMS forth, headed for the Venture.

Lt. Donal calls out from the tactical station, "One projectile. Slow moving... it reads as organic, sir."

Chase responds by calling for evasive maneuvers. Perry pulls off the tremendous feat of dodging the organic projectile in spite of the limited resources of the ship. Unfortunately the projectile is able to course correct and match the ships new trajectory.

The blob approaches from behind as the starship banks. As it gets closer, we see dozens of shapes in the pulsing goo. Venture dodges again and again. The projectile passes it, seemingly missing completely.  As it changes course, the projectile darts in front of the ship, where it EXPLODES with a SPLAT.

The goo dissipates to reveal DOZENS OF INSECTOID HARVESTERS. They writhe with life as they burst forth, heading toward the saucer, some clawing their way into the ravaged main bridge, disappearing inside.

Donal reports multiple contacts (via her B.U.G. implant)  between her men and the Verlicon insectoid harvesters throughout the ship.

Chase orders a new status report on the ship's systems. The news hasn't changed since the exited Omega Field 131.

The Emergency Engineering Holograms reports, "Tactical control is down, sir. The main computer’s not fully online... something’s bin keepin' it busy since we left the Omega Field, cap'n. I’m having problems getting the core freed up. There’s something big runnin'. Some sort of embedded command. It started the moment we dropped out of warp. I'm givin' her all she's got!"

Perry reports hull breaches on decks thirty-four and nineteen. "Captain, I’m reading Verlicon life signs in turbolift shaft four!"

Chase turns his head, looks at the turbolift doors at the rear of the battle bridge at the same time as Lt. Donal.

Perry continues, "Climbing. Deck eighteen!"

Chase and Donal move to the turbolift doors. Drawing her phaser, Donal begins programming it and Chase follows suit. Reaching the door, Chase enters an override command into the control panel and the door WHOOSHES open, revealing the empty shaft. They duck their heads in, peers downward. HIGH PITCHED SHRIEKS echo forth. They pause, then hit the last button on their phasers, which begins BEEPING. Holding the moment, looking down the shaft at NINE HARVESTERS, far below, climbing. Counting in their heads, they reach into the shaft, holding the phasers in their outstretched hands.

The phasers, BEEPING faster now, falls from their hands. As it falls, tumbling through the shaft, the BEEPING increasing. The Harvesters claw their way up, getting closer. They SNARL as the phasers drop between them, falling past, the BEEPING becoming one SOLID, HIGH PITCHED TONE. They watch it go, then turn toward their goal.

BOOM!

The phasers overload a deck below them, causing a massive energy explosion, which quickly engulfs the Harvesters and rises up the shaft. Donal moves fast to tackle Chase out of the open turbolift doorway.

AS Chase and Donal retake their stations, Perry’s helm panel BEEPS as the view-screen comes to life.

"I give you one last chance, Captain. These beings are our property. Return them and I will spare your lives," growls Kuru Xun.

Chase cuts him off without an answer. The Venture is moving away, albeit slowly form the enemy ships. The massive forward launcher on the Verlicon flagship glows to life again.

THOOM! THOOM! THOOM! THOOM!

Four massive blobs issue forth! Hundreds of Verlicon shapes inside. They sail toward Venture, large and intimidating, growing in frame!

The four massive blobs bear down on the Venture. Hundreds of Harvesters raise their claws in anticipation from within the organic projectile.

Perry calls out from the helm, "Captain, contact dropping out of subspace. It’s Enterprise!"

The still of space is broken as the Enterprise drops out of warp and roars past the Venture. The ship’s forward arrays glow as a hail of phaser and pulse cannon fire ERUPT from the ship. CLOSE ON the Harvester Pods, hundreds of Harvesters within...

ZRRAAAAKKKKK!

A single beam of bright, glowing red phaser fire fills the view-screen. The silhouettes of the Harvesters hang for a splitsecond in the light before they are all vaporized. The remaining blobs are destroyed by Enterprise’s fire before the mighty vessel swings to a stop to take a defensive position between the Venture and the Verlicon fleet.

"Sorry, sir. It took longer to find you than you thought. We’ve beamed a security team on board to secure the ship. Enterprise is holding a defensive position."

Chase acknowledges his tardy first officer with a smile and confirms his actions. Considering the status of the Venture, Chase orders a tactical evacuation of all Ordrin to the Enterprise, along with himself, Abin, and Donal.

A moment before beaming off the battle bridge, Chase states reassuringly, "Keep her away from their guns, Mr. Perry. See you back on Enterprise shortly."

Chase and Abin start to re-materialize in the glow of the TRANSPORTER BEAM EFFECT. Chase is already barking out orders as he beams onto the bridge of the Enterprise.

A bustle of action and movement across the bridge. Comm. Holden in command, Lt. Jax at ops., Lt. Sandoval at helm, Lt. Blake at tactical. On the main view-screen the battle unfolds as Chase and Abin materialize.

Holden rises to meet Chase. The ship shakes as it gets hit with another blast. Blake works his holographic panel.

"3D Tactical display online, sir," Blake announces as the captain strides across the bridge.

In the center of the room, a 3D holographic sphere appears. It’s a virtual representation of the battle unfolding. All ships are represented. Various readouts give us information about each of the contacts. Chase approaches the sphere.

Chase looked at the display of the battle going on.

"Mr Holden, order the Dragonfly from the Venture to set course for the Enterprise shuttle bay. And how long until we transport all the remaining Ondrin and our crew members from the Venture to the Enterprise?" Chase asked with his heart pounding.

Chase and Donal, newly transported from the Venture, join Holden in the Tactical Pit at the fore of the bridge. Abin stands outside, holding onto the railing encircling the area. As the three senior officers enter the area, the flooring of the Tactical Pit responds to them, a little spongy under their feet, the soles of their boots lighting up. Above the LCARS table in the center of the pit is projected the full 3D representation of the battle. Chase looks upon the multiple displays projecting off the table in front of him.

"Mr Holden, order the Dragonfly from the Venture to set course for the Enterprise shuttle bay. And how long until we transport all the remaining Ondrin and our crew members from the Venture to the Enterprise?"

"Aye, sir," Holden responds as he begins to manipulate the hologram in front of him. As a small holographic representation of Dragonfly One exits the shuttle bay of the holographic Venture, Holden taps it and clicks on a few preset dropdown responses that appear. The holographic shuttle begins a tight maneuver to leapfrog from the Venture to the Enterprise's shuttle bay.

Donal, studying the projection of the Venture, states,"About 90 seconds to complete transport of all Ordrin from Venture to Enterprise." Donal waves her hand to enlarge the projection of the Venture. On the projection, Chase can see representational dots of the locations of each Ordrin and Enterprise crew member aboard the other ship. Ensign Perry and a lone Ordrin are noted on the battle bridge, the EEH alone in engineering, the EMH amongst dozen of Ordrin lifesigns, and the roughly 40 Red Shirts throughout the ship, engaging the Verlicon harvester boarders. Based on the projection, the Red Shirts have the situation under control. The projection includes a ship status key, which clearly states the Venture is still without shields, weapons, and warp drive.

From her station at ops, Jax calls out, "I’ve got them on scans, sir. I detect over five thousand Ordrin life-signs abord the lead ship, and sir... I’ve got human life-signs as well."

Holden looks from the 3D battle grid to his captain. "We going in after them?"

"How in the hell are there HUMANS on that Verlikon ship???" Chase asked to no one in particular.

"Yes, Mr Holden we're going in after them AND the Ondrin aboard that Verlikon lead ship." Chase said wondering how much more complicated this mission was going to get.

"Mr Holden, can we transport them over to the Enterprise, or are their shields preventing that?"

Before anyone can answer the captain's questions, the Enterprise is buffeted with disrupter fire from all three Verlicon ships as they move into attack formation. As the bridge is rocked by the attack, the smart-floor of Tactical Pit engages, locking the feet of the three senior staff members in place as the entire floor of the tactical pit pivots slightly, as though on a gimbal. The LCARS table and 3D tactical display pivot along with the floor and crew members, as each of them instinctually place a hand on the table for additional balance.

"Shields holding at 90 percent," Lt. Jax calls out across the bridge.

On the 3D tactical display in front of him, Chase can see the port warship move to place itself between the Enterprise and the Venture, all the while unleashing disruptor fire on the Federation ship. The second smaller Verlicon ship moves in a strafing pattern above the Enterprise, while the lead ship maintains its position aft.  All maintain fire on the Enterprise. The Venture is left alone for now.

"Negative at this time, sir. All transporters are currently engaged in evacuation of Ordrin from the Venture. ETA on completion still closer to a minute and a half," the first officer calls out as his hands flash across the display. "Transport of over five thousand beings will take 10-15 minutes, at least!"

Lt. Donal adds to Holden's comment after a brief review of the battle display,"We're able to get the Ordrin off the Venture by timing it with localized modulation of our forward shields, which might be an issue if that battleship takes up position in front of us," she states as she points to the holographic display of the small Verlicon ship moving between the two Federation ships. "And that aside, we can't currently match the lead Verlicon ship's shield modulation, to punch a successful transporter beam through it. I read that all non-Verlicon life-signs are centralized in a spherical superstructure located within the ship. Heavily shielded. This may require a boarding party, sir" Donal adds, the excitement in her voice barely disguised.

"Ok, Lieutenant Donal, we'll do it your way. Gather up a team and let's get on a dragonfly and go over there. Mr Holden, You have the Conn"

Chase made a point of getting out of the Tactical pitt and on to the turbolift before Holden could object.
