Comm. Holden is a bit taken back by both the substance of the order and the way in which it was presented by Chase. He keeps his composure and responds, "I'll have Lt. Donal put together a squad and meet us in Hangar Two."

Holden and Chase exit the bridge immediately for the hanger bay. They arrive to crewman furiously working around a pair of “Dragonfly” ships. Small and sleek, designed for the rigors of travel through Omega distortions, the ships get their name from their distinct appearance. Donal and her squad of Redshirts are loading on board. Chase and Holden are in mid discussion as Chase dons his gear for the journey.

"Captain, my men are ready and onboard. The Dragonfly One and Two are prepped for departure," Chief Donal interjects as she arrives on the scene.

Chase, stops for a minute before stepping onto a Dragonfly. "Is this all a big mistake?", he thinks to himself. Should he have just reported the destroyed ship back to Starfleet command and gone on with his patrol? But What would be the fun in that, he sighed to himself.

"Ok, Holden, You have the ship, I'll be on this Dragonfly", gesturing at the second ship, not claimed by Donal, in front of them.

"Just, keep the Enterprise and the rest of the crew safe". Chase nodded and boarded the Dragonfly.

Before boarding the Dragonfly shuttle, Lt. Donal informs Chase that, "The alien body is loaded on board, sir. We have a full compliment of Redshirts on each ship. And ... as I'm sure Comm. Holden was just reminding you, Starfleet regulations frown upon captains leading away missions, especially into dangerous Omega distortions," Donal adds with a slight smirk. Holden had just reminded Chase of this regulation on their way from the bridge, but in a formal manner, as compared to Donal's playful chastisement.

"I guess I’ll be riding with on Dragonfly Two then. And as you obviously know, with a captain coming along on the away mission, that means you get the field medic assigned to ride shotgun on your shuttle," Lt. Donal adds as she flicks a handheld device towards him. Instinctively Chase begins to reach out to catch the device, before it activates and the EMH hologram comes to life.

"Please state the nature of your medical emergency?" The EMH inquires.

"It's an away mission, doc. Catch-up and grab a seat," Donal barks as she closes the door to Dragonfly Two.

Chase and the newly activate EMH board Dragonfly One, Chase takes his seat behind the pilot, the EMH seated to to the right of the pilot. Eight Redshirts are seated in the aft troop transport section. As Chase sits, the mag-lock on his harness latched roughly to the seat, anchoring him in place for the flight.

The twin Dragonfly ships glide out of the hangar doors, towards the Omega distortion in the near distance.

Through the front window we can see The EMH looking out towards the Omega ditortion, a little bit nervous.

Ensign Perry, a young ambitious Dragonfly pilot is at the helm, "First time in a Dragonfly, Doctor?"

The EMH is visibly anxious, trying to keep his composure. "No sir...It’s my second."

Over the comms DONAL reports in , all business now, "Ready, sir. Entry coordinates locked in. We are good to go."

"Coordinates matched and locked. Acquiring magnetic signature. In three... two...... one... warp speed!" Ensign Perry calls out as his hands dance over the Dragonfly's controls.

The quad-engines of the Dragonfly ships flash and pulse with energy. The ships surge forward, striking the barrier of the Omega field, leaving ripples in space as they breach.

Huge, surreal, colorful masses of energy CRACKLE around the two ships as they weave their way through the distortion.
It’s a violent, chaotic ride.

"Dragonfly One to Dragonfly Two. Picking up a subspace spike ahead. Alter course bearing one five zero in five seconds... mark," Perry calls out

Over the comm, the pilot of Dragonfly Two replies, "Copy. Turning in three... two...one... hang on!"

The two ships make a wicked turn in order to make their next opening. As Dragonfly Two banks, a spike of distorted subspace lashes out and strikes the ship with a CRACK. One of the engines flickers, SPARKS, and dies.

Over the comms, Chase and the crew of Dragonfly One hear the pilot of the other ship, "Warp field destabilizing. Engine out! If that goes we’ll be trapped here for a long time."

"Or worse. Re-routing damaged systems. Restarting engine three," Donal responds over the comms.

The dead engine PULSES back to life and the little ship corrects its course, getting back in with the lead dragonfly.

"Warp field stable. We’re right behind you."

Perry checks his readout, a bit confused."Distortion barrier ahead, Captain!"

A ripple in the field appears as the two ships break out of the distortion and back into normal space.

"Scanning. I’ve got something. Multiple readings."

Intangible at first, but as we get closer a shape emerges from the dark. A large object with a familiar outline.

The Dragonflies turn into the direction of the shape.

Chase peels himself off the back of his seat after this violent and crazy ride to give Perry an order.

"Mr. Perry, slow this thing and the other Dragonfly down, so we can take a look at that object".

Chase noted to himself to avoid Dragonfly rides through the Omega Distortion as much as possible in the future.

Over the comm, we hear Lt. Donal chime in. "Now there’s something you don’t see every day."

The Dragonflies turn into the direction of the shape. The occupants of both crafts stare forward in their seats, transfixed by what they see in the closing distance.

Revealed... a Galaxy Class Federation starship! It’s clearly damaged, ravaged by time, but it’s unmistakably a Starfleet vessel of the same design as Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Enterprise. Small Ordrin ships buzz around it like flies. The twin Dragonflies cruise into view as they head toward the massive ship and the mysteries it holds.

If he weren't strapped into his seat on the Dragonfly, Chase would have jumped to his feet. He suddenly felt like his uncle, the fisherman, when he had a fish on the line, that was too big for the boat. He couldn't help but smile.

"Ladies & Gentlemen, I have a feeling after this mission, we'll either be in the history books, or Starfleet will deny we ever existed."

The ravaged hull of the Galaxy Class vessel looms before the two Dragonfly Class shuttles, majestic even in its disrepair. A large gash across the bridge. The two Dragonflies SWOOP in.

"I’m reading a Starfleet signature, sir," Ensign Perry states, his voice trying to contain his surprise. "It’s the U.S.S. Venture."

Chase thought for a minute.

"...Aaaannd when was the last time Starfleet Command heard from the Venture?"

Chase asked, scared of the answer.

While waiting for Ensign Perry's response, Chase remembers the last words of the dying Ordrin pilot:

VEN-tur-EEE.

"Sir, she disappeared in the Omega Event, near Tau Ceti. Life support’s working, but that’s about it,"

"That’s a long way from here. Where’s she been for sixty-five years?"

A beep from the Dragonfly control console assails the moment.

"We’ve received docking clearance, sir. Main shuttle bay."

"Clearance from the Venture?" Chase asked. But before his crew could answer, his curiosity took over.

"Well this ought to be interesting. Take us in, Mr. Perry."
