Your last IC post immediately made me think of this, as Chase leans into the alien, "My name is Alexander..."



Hamilton is still big in the future, in the Prime Universe. They hate it in the Kelvin Timeline. In the Mirror Universe, Hamilton killed Burr.

I've completed the stats and background information for Lt. Comm. 'Zero' and Lt. Jax. Feel free to look them over and let me know what you think. They took a while to finish as I had to create brand new alien templates for them. Tried to give Lt. Jax a mysterious hook and explain Zero's unknowable alienness. All Senior Staff members/NPCs are now complete. If I'm missing anyone, please let me know.

And please note the following:

USS Enterprise Chain of Command:
1. Capt. Chase
2. Comm. Holden
3. Lt. Donal
4. Mr. Zero
5. Dr. Ch'rylek

- Though Mr. Zero and Dr. Ch'rylek out rank Donal, as Head of Security she is steps in to lead if Chase and Holden are incapacitated.

Thank God I wasn't drinking anything when I read this. Spit-take city.

Great idea, exactly the type of world building I want your help with. So now that's canon...Harry Kim rises to the rank of Fleet Admiral after ST:Voyager. Heaven help us all.

I was going to use Tom Paris, but decided against it, since there already is an Admiral Paris, and using Harry's name seemed even more stomach turning.

The idea that the fairly unassuming and milquetoast Harry Kim rises above the rank of lieutenant is laughable....which is why its a great bit. Nice one. Feel free to keep up that kind of world building up. It's your game world too.

As a note, we have just ended the opening scene of the first episode (about 1/5 of the entire episode). As I  have finished the scene, imagine the screen went to black and the theme song kicked in and show introduction started up. I guess they call that Act 1 on Memory Alpha.

I have posted the episode title card too. I had to download the Star Trek Final Frontier Old Style font off the interwebs for the title card. I can't imagine what kind of malware I downloaded to my computer at the same time too.

Tomorrow I will post in game to move us onto the next scene. Hold tight until then.

And as I have mentioned before, the next scene will take place in the ready room (after a slight passage of time - a few hours), where we'll introduce the senior staff and discuss this alien encounter with them.

If you want, now would be a great time for a Captain's Log post. As I won't post again until tonight, feel free to add a Captain's Log post.

I'm going to post a few things this weekend OOC to provide a little more detail about the game.

First up, a few notes on the crew and ship. I've decided to start up a new thread for this game with information on the Enterprise. Basically I plan to stat her out like a NPC, with details about the size of her crew. This is where we'll keep track of ship battle damage info and length of time info on ship repairs. Still trying to figure out the size of crew, I'm thinking about 400 members, with limited options for reinforcements. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated 

Two crewmen that will be around constantly but don't warrant entry in the NPC Thread are our helmsmen Lt. Blake and Lt. Sandoval. One of them will always be on they bridge at the helm of the ship.  Both are non-descript, generic humans, though their names are mentioned in the episode scripts. Just treat them like interchangeable members of the crew.

Regarding game rules:

Action Points: Remember Chase has 3 Action Points to use per episode. These reset at the begining of each episode. When you do cool shit you gain more of them to use. They're like Plot Points from the Firefly game, to be used to influence the plot of the game. So remember to use them and try cool shot to gain more.

When you you want to use one, just note it at the bottom of your IC post, in bold and in brackets, to inform me on how you're trying to influence the plot.

Intuition Talent: Remember Chase can ask for a hint 8 times an episode. This is a huge amount. Just mention it at the bottoms of the post, in bold and in brackets, when you want a story hint.

And you may have noticed in the storyboards that Chase, as well as the rest of the bridge crew, all wear phaser sidearms. Essentially whenever a crewman is on duty, they are wearing a phaser sidearm around the ship. Aside from a phaser, the holster holds an extra phaser power cell, a pocket replicator and a pouch for their personal LCARS. The pocket replicator allows for a limited one-time replicator use, to replicate an emergency item.

LCARS


The LCARS fold up like the computers used on HBO's Westworld. They all have holographic projectors.

The personal comm-badges worn by each crew member acts as a communicators, bio-metric monitor and emergency transport unit (one-time use).

And to help you out, here is a list of items each NPC can report on in this scene:

Holden- sentry logs
Donal- alien ship telemetry info, risk assessment, alien tactical strength
Dr. - alien autopsy info
Zero- alien ship construction, wreckage reconstruction process

I'll update my most recent IC post tonight, to make it fit more with our game, instead of just a basic copy & paste job from the episode script. Now would be a perfect time to use Chase's Intuition Talent. You get 8 uses per episode, might as well use them. 

So here it goes: Intuition Use 1
This scene has three purposes - to introduce the senior staff to you (and by extension your character, in the game world), to gather the information Chase has requested in the previous scene (along with additional info I think he would have asked for off-screen), and to discuss what further action needs to be taken. I will have this conversation just occur freely, instead of asking you/Chase to ask each character in turn for their report. Basically, have them segue into each other's reports and introductions.

By the end of this scene Chase will need to decide the next course of action; either to ignore the alien request for assistance and go back to border patrol, or to try to locate the alien home world/settlement/point of origin and provide that assistance. Considering this is Star Trek, I'm betting on you/Chase deciding to provide assistance. Unless you want the episodes to be short and boring, and the series to get cancelled quickly. This is the set-up for Chase to break with Starfleet regulations and to embark on a journey of exploration and aide.

I sent you an email. I deleted your last IC post, but I sent it all to you in the email, so you can just repost it if you want to.

I have since updated the post from Mr. Zero as I said I would, and added posts from security chief Donal and our ship's number one, Holden. Aside from Dr. Ch'rylek, we've heard a little from each senior staff member at this point. Ask any questions you might have or start up a discussion of what to do next, or cut to the chase, and get us moving on with the mystery of the alien species. It's all up to you.

I've added a separate thread to this game for the Enterprise, to treat her as a character too. Still working out the numbers (thinking a crew around 500). Go ahead and check it out. I included some concept pictures of her too, for visual reference.
