Hood forces down the bile rising in his throat. Keeping his eyes on the village, he replies as calmly and steadfastly as he can: "They wanted the huts tossed. Well they're tossed. We warned them. These people are on Imperial property and I'm just about sick of Vetnans stabbing us in the back every time we try to help them. We're leaving this war zone upright and if I have to shoot a few farmers to do that, well... the Emperor can sort out who was right when I go to meet him."
He clears his throat as a lump of emotion conspires to choke him. "We'll give them a few minutes to clear out then search the place for intel and burn it. Watch for boobytraps."

Wha? What happened?

I have ideas for the character but the new system is kicking my brain in the ass.

"This is Hood. We're coming to you. Hold positions at the Venator. Get in cover and overwatch on our approach." The Sergeant stands up and makes his way to the door. He waits for Mara to come to his shoulder and then kicks it open and advances, weapon to his shoulder, turning oaccasionally to cover their rear, until he is back with the squad.
Tactical advance back to the Venator.

I'm super busy at the moment anyway and the house move is almost upon me so I am sure I will go quiet myself from time to time.
I've been musing on it and I thought it would be cool be a scout or tracker who is one of twins. He and his brother, both comparatively young men at the time, owed fealty to King Lot but were also part of Gawain's warband. When Gawain went renegade the brothers were the first men Lot sent to find Gawain. But on the way they argued about who was in the right and quickly came to blows, with my character saying they should throw in with Gawain and his brother saying they should obey their king. The fight ended with the brother falling over a waterfall and my character, thinking he had killed him, fleeing south of the wall to join up with Gawain.
Ten years later and my character has gone from a headstrong youth to a mature warrior, still guilt ridden about his brother's fate. He has now settled down with a family having married the daughter of a Brigante Lord. He still raids with Gawain when he has need of him but also works for the Brigante lord who is the man called to Winter Council.
He has recently been hearing about a man who looks like him, except with terrible scars, stalking the lands south of the wall and knows his brother is one of the trackers that Lot has sent to aid the Green Knight in bringing Gawain back to face justice. He is torn between relief that his brother is alive and the confrontation which will inevitably follow.
He has grown his hair back to cover the pictish scars and lives under an assumed name but his flame red hair and beard mark him out as a northerner, and even after ten years he is still considered an outsider by his adopted tribe who like to embelish stories about who he really is and what crime he has fled from.

I'm fine either way though Gawain seems a bit too heroic/important to play the sick or diminished lord previously mentioned.
I'm thinking I'll go for headstrong warrior type, a friend of Gawain who still works for him but has settled down since fleeing Gododin.
Maybe he has married a daughter of some Brigante lord and has some children so even while he is off being a mercenary with Gawain he has a divided loyalty which he owes to his life long leader but also his adopted lord.
Possibly back north of the wall he has a brother, father or uncle who is one of the bounty hunters trying to win Lot's silver and regain his honour by bringing the errant Celt to heel.

Zweihander is indeed coming soon though an exact date is still not known. I think the last update was a couple days ago when they said they had finished the lay out.
I doubt it will go back to FFG seeing as they ran WFRP into the ground with v3 and they are coining it in now off their Star Wars licensed products. They've dumped just about all their Games Workshop tie ins.

The Lot and Gawain story is pretty cool and it's interesting to be associated with one of the main Arthurian "knights". I like it, and I like that the characters would essentially be Scots adrift and out of place south of the wall.
If we serve Gawain would he be our leader who we are accompanying to the winter meeting or have we lost contact with him since we fled Gododin and we now serve some other lord?

Not really. I usually avoid magic users. Would you be keen on having a Druid in the party?

"Back me up here," says Hood to Mara as he goes to check the downed Vetnan for life signs. He moves around to the other side of the body before rolling it, to give Mara a clear shot if the wounded person tries anything funny.

I'm thinking a Black Dow type shit heel. I think it will be dependent on the type of adventure you want to run. How do the characters know each other? Are we all from the same tribe with the same allegiances or are we itinerant adventurers? Is this intended to be a realistic type of campaign or is it more heroic?

I'm not sure what I have to do. I think the person near Hood is down and I can't see anyone else, or much of anything else, because of the smoke.

Go on then. I'm pretty busy at the moment with work and moving house though so I won't be mega prolific I'm afraid.
